The Dodge NV4500 transmission was choosen for the Cummins diesel conversion for its toughness and 5th gear overdrive. This transmission was designed for the Cummins Dodge pickup trucks from 1996 to 2001. With a fifth gear ratio of 0.73, the 4BT/NV4500 combination can achieve good fuel economy at 70mph with stock Scout gears.

The Scout II body was lifted two inches in order to create room for the after cooler pipe below the hood and the oil pan above the front axel/differential.
For the weight and vibration of the four cylinder motor, we built custom motor mounts of 3/8th inch plate and utilized the Lord fluid mounts.
